Seeking: Home Library Service volunteers
We are currently seeking volunteers for Lilydale Library.
Are you interested in delivering books and other library materials to people who can’t visit their local library?
All our library branches deliver materials to people who can no longer visit the library in-person. Our home library volunteers collect a bag of items from their local library and deliver it to people in their own homes or in aged care residences. They may stay for a chat and a cuppa, or just drop off and pick-up the loans.
What do you need?
You need your own car and an interest in helping people who get enjoyment from reading, watching or listening to books, audios or DVDs. We will match you with one or two people in your area and organise delivery times that suit your schedule. You will need to undertake a Police Check and obtain a Working with Children check.

Seeking: Conversation Circle volunteers
Are you –
- Interested in helping others to practise their English speaking and listening skills?
- A kind, patient and supportive person?
- Interested in sharing your knowledge of the English language and Australian culture?
- A keen listener, willing to guide and support others?
- Available to assist on Fridays from 12:15 – 1:45 either weekly or fortnightly.
Conversation Circle
This delightful and impactful program runs event Friday afternoon at Realm Library. Participants from many different cultural backgrounds are put in small groups with a volunteer facilitator to practise their English speaking and listening skills in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
We’ll help you to help others
No experience necessary. Initial and ongoing training and support will be provided.

Are you interested in sharing your love of reading and writing?
Do you have skills or knowledge that could help others? We need volunteer adult literacy tutors.

Leap into Literacy
Leap into Literacy is a new adult literacy program providing 1-to-1 tutoring for people looking to improve their reading and writing skills. Volunteer tutors and learners will be matched and will meet regularly at a mutually convenient time and place.

Seeking: Chat and Connect Program Volunteers
At Your Library, we are currently developing a new Chat and Connect program for the Knox Council area. This program will involve trained volunteers visiting residential aged care and senior’s groups to deliver storytelling and reminiscence activities designed to enhance wellbeing through reflection and conversation as well as development of social connections.
We are currently welcoming expressions of interest from people who might like to become a volunteer for the program. If this sounds like something you would like to do, or if you would like to hear more, please contact us via email at [email protected].
