As always, we have an inspiring selection of events for you to attend. Our Library staff love to get on board with the Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea. You will be able to get a hot drink, and a sweet treat, at the Bayswater, Croydon, Ferntree Gully, and Mooroolbark libraries. At Rowville, there will be morning tea, and pre-loved library books on sale for $1 each.
Our Chief Executive, Dr Karina Lamb, is also getting charitable this month and participating in the Vinnie's CEO sleepout. Hundreds of CEOs, business owners, community and government leaders will sleep outdoors on one of the coldest nights of the year, to support those who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. You can donate to Karina's sleepout here.
National Simultaneous Storytime is on 21 May, and all our libraries will be reading The truck cat by Deborah Frenkel - a delightful story about a cat, his truck-driving owner, and the meaning of home. Check the calendar for exact times.
Finally, we will be joined by three very different female authors this month: - Hana Assafiri talking about her memoir, her work running The Moroccan Soup Bar, and tackling gender based violence at Rowville,
- Nicola Marsh celebrating the launch of her latest rural romance Where the Heart is at Knox | Ngarrgoo, and
- Kerryn Mayne on her new novel, Joy Moody is Out of Time - an unconventional, humorous and moving tale of uncovering family truths, at Bayswater.
What a treat!
