Your Library news
‌

Hello and welcome to your August newsletter!

‌
‌

Have you ever wanted to explore your family history?
August is National Family History Month, and we have some great ways to get your research started or take your research even further. Discover the convicts in your family tree at Ferntree Gully Library, learn how DNA can help you discover those family connections at Bayswater, Mooroolbark or Realm Library,  and get started on your genealogy journey with an Introduction to Family History at Miller’s Homestead or Boronia Library.

The Ringwood Art Society is celebrating its 60th year with a diverse exhibition of work at Miller’s Homestead. Visit the exhibition during opening hours in August and September and enjoy the work of this dedicated group of local artists.

Your Library is hosting some terrific author events this month. Warm Winter Read Ambassador, Garry Disher, will be at Lilydale Library to talk about his latest novel, Sanctuary. Miles Franklin Award shortlisted author, Myfanwy Jones, will be at Croydon Library to talk about her new book, Cool Water. Helen Elliott, author, critic and columnist, will be in conversation with her daughter, Eleanor Elliott Thomas, at Miller’s Homestead. Helen’s new book, Eleven Letters to You, explores her early years and the people who influenced her life.

Finally, we are about to hold our first Comics and Cosplay Extravaganza at Lilydale Library. It promises to be a wonderful day with free activities for all ages. Dress up as your favourite character and join in the fun.

Check out our website for more events and activities for all ages. We look forward to welcoming you to Your Library soon!
