We're excited to jump into Term 3 with some fun events and programs for children of all ages and their families.

CBCA Book Week:
Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) and Your Library invite you to join the celebration of CBCA Book Week 2024. This year’s theme, ‘Reading is Magic’, will take you on a spellbinding journey! The magic starts 17 August –23 August, across all our branches. This year’s shortlisted books are fabulous, and we can’t wait to share them. Which book will win CBCA Book of the Year? Reserve or borrow a copy of one of the CBCA shortlisted books today.

Spring School Holiday Program:
Mark your calendars! This year's Spring School Holiday Program will run from 23 September to 6 October. Bookings open on Saturday, 14 September, at 12 midday. Don't miss out on all the exciting activities we have planned!

Reading Buddies Program:
It’s never too late to join the fun of Reading Buddies at Knox Library | Ngarrgoo. Reading Buddies is designed to support primary school parents and caregivers in helping their child to read. Now young participants of the program can be rewarded for their reading with our Reading Buddies loyalty cards. Come along with your child and their reader and join a Reading Buddy on Wednesdays, 4pm to 5pm, during school terms!

We hope you have a fantastic Term 3, filled with the joy of magical reading adventures!

Join us for our National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Children's Day Celebrations, in partnership with Oonah Aboriginal Health and Community Services. Do you have toys, games and books in good condition that your children have grown out of, or are you looking for some new ones? Empty those toy boxes and bookshelves and bring them down to Ferntree Gully Library to swap with others. Donations will be accepted from Monday 5 August, or just bring them with you on the day. Leftover goods will be donated to charity. FREE - Bookings not required.

We know that most children come home from school with a reader they are supposed to complete each night. We also know that many adults don’t have the confidence to help their children learn to read - this is why the 'Reading Buddies' program was started.
